Emergency services have been called to a serious crash between a motorcycle and car in Rakaia in Canterbury.
Police said they were alerted to the crash Dunford St at 12.55pm and it is believed one person has been seriously injured.
The road will be closed and diversions are in place.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit will attend the scene.
