The New Zealand Herald last night reported former All Black and Highlanders and Otago captain Taine Randell will be New Zealand First’s candidate in the Hawke’s Bay electorate of Tukituki.
The Herald said Mr Randell’s candidacy was going to be announced at a NZ First public meeting in Hastings on Sunday, which was cancelled because of Cyclone Vaianu.
The electorate, which includes Hastings, Havelock North and parts of Central Hawke’s Bay, was won by National MP Catherine Wedd in 2023, who beat Labour’s Anna Lorck by about 25% of the votes. — Allied Media
