Woman critical after Manawatu crash

A woman is in hospital on life support following a crash in the Manawatu region early today.

Wellington police communications Inspector Dave Rose said the crash occurred on Oroua Valley Rd in Apiti around 12.30am.

The vehicle the woman was travelling in hit a bank and she was thrown from the car, he said.

"It seems this woman was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries."

Two other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Their condition was currently unclear.

The woman was taken to Palmerston North Hospital in a critical condition, Mr Rose said. She was currently on life support.

A decision regarding whether to keep the woman on life support was expected to be made later this morning.

The police serious crash unit were investigating.
