A woman has died after the car she was in left the road at an Ashburton intersection overnight.
Police attended the incident at the intersection of Hamptons and Seafield Rds east of Ashburton about 11.55pm last night.
The vehicle left the road at the intersection. One female occupant died at the scene and three others were treated by St John staff.
An enquiry is under way.
