One person has been critically injured in a crash near Mataura this evening. 

In a statement, police said they were called to the scene of the crash on State Highway 93 (Old Coach Rd) at about 7pm. 

Two vehicles were involved in the collision. 

One patient was flown to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition. 

The road will remain closed between Clinton and Mataura while the Serious Crash Unit carries out a scene examination.
