Thousands of books were available to bookworms of all ages perusing the laden tables looking for their favourite titles, magazines, cassettes, DVD’s and more…. at the 24th Friends of the Library Booksale at the Fiordland Community Events Centre during Queens Birthday Weekend.

The booksale raised up to $7000 after a busy Friday night opening 6pm-10pm and sales were consistent through Saturday trading 9m-3.30pm.

With full community support, The Friends of the Library have already surpassed the $100,000 mark last year and averaging up to $7,000 each year over past four years.

“With our 25th anniversary next year, it will be watch this space” said President Marilyn Hunter.

“We have donated books to Te Anau Plunket for the first time this year and donated $500 each to the following Fiordland schools in the district, Fiordland College, Te Anau School, Mararoa School, Manapouri Community Library, Te Anau Library, Southern stars Early Learning Centre and Fiordland Kindergarten. These donations are as a thank you for the ongoing support”, she said.

The Friends of the Library through the annual booksale, support Te Anau Library for kids programmes, storyteller events, contributing to furniture upgrade, puzzle table and purchasing range of DVD’s for hire.
