If it's too good to be true, it probably is. That's the police's warning to people buying items that could be stolen after a spate of burglaries at a building site in Queenstown.
Three burglaries, believed to be connected, took place at Queenstown Country Club over the weekend of June 29-July 2.
The burglaries at the construction site of a new 300 home retirement village, situated off Ladies Mile between Shotover Country and Lake Hayes Estate, came to the attention of police on Monday last week
Several items of plumbing, electrical and concrete cutting equipment were taken from containers stored at the site.
Equipment was taken from a house under construction on the site during the first incident.
After the burglaries, Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, said the burglars were clearly "targeting tools and equipment off of building sites''.
Police believed the stolen items may be put up for sale and said if an offer seems to good to be true, to get in touch.
The police wanted to remind contractors to ensure their tools were securely locked away or labelled/engraved to ensure they could be returned if recovered.
