A reveller fell from a balcony and fractured his skull at a Dunedin flat in the early hours of the morning.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said the young man fractured his skull and a collarbone in the fall at a flat in Pitt St, opposite Knox Church.
"It could have been worse,'' he said of the incident.
"[He is] a 'very lucky young man.''
St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance was called at 12.37am and transported one patient with serious injuries to Dunedin Hospital's emergency department.
