A woman was mugged and pushed to the ground in South Dunedin yesterday, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The Dunedin woman withdrew a "sum of cash" from the ANZ King Edward St branch about 12.30pm, before walking down an alleyway between Fox and Glasgow Sts.
A man ran behind her and snatched the money, Senior Sergeant Phil McDouall, of South Dunedin, said.
The woman was pushed to the ground, sustaining a cut to her hand.
She was "shaken and upset", Snr Sgt McDouall said.
The man was last seen heading down Glasgow St towards Hillside Rd.
He is described as a Caucasian, in his early 20s, of slim to medium build and about 180cm tall.
He was wearing light-coloured trousers, and a grey hooded sweatshirt with a black top over it which featured red writing on the back.
A police dog tracked the suspect to Hillside Rd, where it lost the scent.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw a man fitting that description to contact South Dunedin police on (03) 455 1199.
The incident was not believed to be linked to Tuesday's bank robbery, Snr Sgt McDouall said.
