It is a frosty morning for drivers in Central Otago with mostly dry roads and a few damp areas, authorities say.

With temperatures ranging from -3degC to 1degC, the Central Otago District Council is warning motorists to take care on bridge decks and shaded spots,

Grit had been applied to trouble spots and crews would continue to monitor.

In Queenstown it is -4degc at the summit of the Crown Range Road.

"it's pretty cold out there but roads are mostly dry apart from a few around Arrowtown, Dalefield, Alexandra/Maniototo and Kingston. Watch for icy patches in these areas," the Queenstown District Council said.
