The occupants of a campervan had a lucky escape after crashing on the way into Lake Hāwea this morning. 

Police, ambulance and emergency services were called after the vehicle crashed on the side of the Makarora-Lake Hāwea Road going past Camp Creek. 

None of the occupants sustained any injuries.

Police said no other vehicles were involved 

The road remains open but speed restrictions are in place and traffic is being controlled.
