Two Central Otago men have been arrested for possession of cannabis for supply.
Simultaneous search warrants executed in Cromwell and Tarras yesterday morning resulted in the arrest of two men, aged 26 and 30, on charges of possession of cannabis for supply.
Sergeant Mike Williams, of Cromwell, said as a result of the warrants, which were linked, police found a large amount of cannabis leaf, cash and a firearm.
He said there was evidence of drug cultivation at both locations.
He was pleased with the result.
"Hopefully, we've made a small dent in the local drug network.
"We've been wanting to focus on the drug side of things for a while."
After appearing before a registrar at Alexandra District Court yesterday afternoon, the men were released on bail to appear before a judge in the same court tomorrow.
