A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesman said crews from Cromwell, Clyde and Alexandra were called to the scene after a report of a well-involved fire at the intersection of McNulty Rd and Barry Ave about 6.15pm.
About 7pm, four fire trucks, one command unit and one support vehicle were at the scene - crews were still looking to clear the building as well as extinguish the fire, the spokesman said.
About an hour later, the fire was extinguished, but three fire trucks remained on scene as crews worked to extinguish hot spots, he said.
The building was clear, he said.
‘‘No injuries, everyone was safe.’’
