Electoral review An independent advisory panel will review how the Central Otago district is represented before the 2013 council election.
Becks farmer and Rural Women New Zealand member Gill Naylor will chair the panel comprising Naseby Vision secretary Hilary Allison, Earnscleugh flower grower Tony Banks, retired secondary school principal Rory Gollop, of Alexandra, Tarras farmer Allan Kane and retired runholder and former councillor and community board member John Rowley, from Teviot Valley.
They will look at the way district councillors are elected, how many elected members there are in total and the number and structure of community boards and electoral subdivisions.
Mrs Naylor said the panel would interview members and council staff, but was also keen to interview members of the wider community who had views on current representation.
"We are encouraging people to take this opportunity to have some early input into the discussion. It's our job as a panel to listen and reflect the feedback we get into some options to put out to the community to discuss further."
