Road work at Nevis Bluff continues

Rocks will be rolling at Nevis Bluff this week, according to New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

Motorists travelling State Highway 6 between Cromwell and Queenstown are reminded to allow extra travel time this week as safety work at the site continues.

The work began May 11 and involves abseilers on the Bluff carrying out a controlled release of rock loosened by weather erosion, which poses a risk to highway users below.

Traffic management is in place on the highway weekdays, 8am-5pm. Traffic will be stopped and held in both directions periodically while work is under way.

The work is expected to continue for about three weeks. — Allied Media
