Heritage sites open for Waitangi Day

Three Otago heritage destinations will be open to the public for free on Waitangi Day.

Hayes Engineering, at Oturehua, and Totara Estate and Clark’s Mill, both on State Highway 1 near Oamaru, are cared for by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga.

At each site, visitors can step into New Zealand’s past, connecting with the people, events and stories that have shaped our nation.

The sites offer a window into both the promise and challenges of New Zealand’s shared history.

The family-friendly day would feature activities for all ages, including guided tours and interactive experiences designed to bring history to life.

Visitors will receive a complimentary educational booklet while stocks last.
