To the Manorburn

The Manorburn Curling Club is off to a good start this season, winning the Nicolson trophy for the champion club in the Idaburn and Naseby Curling Councils, and also the Gerry Sanders Memorial trophy for the top club in the southern part of the Idaburn council.

The team is (back row, from left) Ron Aitken, Earnscy Weaver, Gavin Spencer, Tony Banks and Paul Harrex.

Front: Gordon Jannink, Bruce Kissel and Bert Kemp.

The Nicolson trophy was contested against Otago Central from the Naseby Curling Council and both teams tied on 70 points.

The end of the match was played in snow, so instead of continuing to find the outright winner, the trophy was awarded to the team which had the fewest points scored against it.

The Sanders Memorial trophy winners were Harrex, Kemp, Spencer and Kissel.
