New council manager appointed

A chartered accountant with private sector and local government experience has been appointed Central Otago District Council executive manager corporate services.

Leanne Macdonald will come to Central Otago from her position as chief financial officer at Horizons Regional Council in Palmerston North. She was also formerly the manager of business services at Palmerston North Airport Ltd, a council-controlled organisation.

Central Otago council chief executive Sanchia Jacobs said Mrs Macdonald had both the leadership and financial acumen required to effectively lead the Central Otago corporate services function and ensure the delivery of the ``high value infrastructure projects'' in council's 10-year plan.

Mrs Macdonald will begin her new job on July 29.
