A teenager who was found to have a breath-alcohol level more than double the legal adult limit was allegedly driving a vehicle which rolled at the Cromwell roundabout at the intersection of Barry Ave and Inniscort St about 2.30am on Sunday morning, police said.
The Cromwell 18-year-old recorded a level of 870mcg, Senior Constable Phil Beckwith said.
There is a zero alcohol limit for drivers under 20 and the legal alcohol limit for adults is 400mcg.
"A ute was found on its side and the person who called police said the driver had run off," Snr Const Beckwith said.
The young man allegedly driving was uninjured, and was found not far from the accident scene.
He would face at least a charge of driving with excess breath-alcohol, he said.
Police were called to another single-vehicle crash 150m south of the SH6-SH8B intersection at 4.40am on Sunday.
A 27-year-old Cromwell man lost control of his van and veered off the highway, hitting a bank and rolling. The man, who was uninjured, might have fallen asleep, Snr Const Beckwith said.
