Letterbox vandalism dismays

These letterboxes on Atley Rd were among at least 10 targeted by vandals at Arthurs Point over the weekend. Some were damaged and others taken.

Arthurs Point resident Georgina Cunningham thought between 10 and 15 of the 40 boxes in the area had been removed or smashed on Saturday night, including her own "computer" mailbox, of which only the post remained. "There's a lot of work that's gone into them.

It's a shame," she said. "It's a tourist attraction for many, but a lot of drunken hooligans like to smash them." It was not the first time the mailboxes had been targeted this year and Ms Cunningham called for anyone with any information to inform the police.
