The grant to the Mackenzie Search and Rescue and Coastguard Mackenzie Lakes has been made by the Meridian Energy Waitaki Community Fund.
A total of $124,000 was distributed in the latest grants round last month.
The search and rescue and coast guard organisation covered Mackenzie and Waitaki Valley communities, and was in high demand over the busy holiday season, president Dene Madden said.
''Our SAR team has been operating out of a garden shed, and the Coastguard has been based at the local school's old dental clinic room.
''Having a combined, functional base means we can increase the effectiveness of our response in an emergency,'' Mr Madden said.
The fund also made a $40,774 grant for restoration work at the Duntroon village Nicol's blacksmith shop and Brewery Hole, which used to supply the town's water.
