This year, the cycle tour, which promotes Oamaru's Victorian Heritage celebrations, will travel about 300km between Riverton and Arrowtown, and cycle tour member and artist Donna Demente said she had now put up one of her paintings for auction.
"It took about two months to finish, but it's better than selling raffle tickets," she said.
Ms Demente said the "pre-Raphaelite looking" painting, entitled Adria, had already attracted a bid of $1000 from a buyer in London, but the auction did not finish for another eight days, and she hoped to raise more money.
"If this was in a gallery it would fetch about $6500, so it it going to be a good deal for somebody."
The painting would remain on display at the Grain Store Art Gallery until the end of the auction, next Friday.
She said the cycle tour would start on October 13, and already,30 riders were interested in taking part.
