Break-in at Oamaru doctor's surgery

Police are investigating after an alleged burglary at an Oamaru doctor's surgery last night.

Sergeant Blair Wilkinson, of Oamaru, would not name the practice targeted but said a forensic examination was being carried out this morning.

It was not known if any controlled drugs had been taken.

Staff alerted police to the break-in when they arrived at the practice for work today.

It is the second instance of a medical practice being targeted in the space of three weeks, after a burglary at Whitestone Family Practice in Ribble St on August 1. That incident was reported to police the following day.

Controlled drugs were believed to have been targeted on that occasion.
