Club set for 75th

It may be early days, but Kurow Golf Club president Bruce Nehoff has been amazed at the response from former members to plans for the club's 75th anniversary celebrations next year.

Mr Nehoff has tracked down about 150 former members.

"I phoned one person in Wanaka, and the next day I had a phone call from someone in Christchurch," he said.

The club started planning in March for the anniversary celebrations, which will be held next March 5 and 6.

On the Friday night, a gathering will be held, with photographs.

On Saturday, there will be a golf tournament and anniversary dinner.

More responses from former members are expected when information packs are sent out soon.

The club has been playing on its nine-hole course at Kurow since 1935.

It has about 90 financial members, with about 30 playing regularly.
