Drunk minor leads to charges laid

An 18-year-old Oamaru man has been charged with supplying alcohol to two minors after an ''uncontrollable'' 15-year-old was brought to the Oamaru Police Station on Tuesday night.

Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said a 15-year-old female, in an ''unmanageable'' state after drinking alcohol, was brought to the police station about 5.50pm by her mother.

''We've assisted the mother in dealing with [her] and then found out where the alcohol has come from,'' he said.

She was put into a cell to detox after acting in a disorderly manner at Oamaru Hospital and breaching the liquor ban.

The 18-year-old had also allegedly supplied alcohol to a 14-year-old boy.

Both minors have been referred to Youth Aid, while the 18-year-old who allegedly supplied them with alcohol will appear in the Oamaru District Court.
