Oamaru wants to fly the flags for the Rugby World Cup and Golden Oldies rugby festival during September and October.
Waitaki Golden Oldies committee member Helen Webster and Golden Oldies festival co-ordinator Dominique Klippel appealed to Oamaru people who may have flags representing the 20 nations in the cup to loan or donate them so they can be flown in Oamaru during the event.
There were a lot of flag-poles around Oamaru and the committee's goal was to have a flag on all of them during the tournament.
People who wanted to give or lend a flag could contact the North Otago Rugby Union office.
