A pilot is dead following a glider crash in near Omarama tonight.
Police Southern Communications shift commander Inspector Pau Fremaux said emergency services were called to the scene of the crash about 6.30pm.
The glider had a single male pilot who was found dead at the scene on Snowy Top in the Diadem Range, northwest of Omarama.
Emergency services from Omarama, Twizel and search and rescue attended.
Civil Aviation Authority investigators will go to the scene tomorrow.
The name of the dead man will not be released until next of kin are notified.
