Jet-boaters will still be able to launch their boats into the Waitaki River at Kurow while new twin bridges are being built to replace the existing 132-year-old wooden structures.
The $18.5 million two-lane bridges will be built downstream of the existing SH82 bridges, which is where the jet-boat launch ramp is.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said the bridge's contractor, McConnell Dowell Constructors Ltd, was required to maintain temporary jet-boat ramp access throughout the construction, which starts next month.
The contractor would liaise with the community, including ramp users such as the Waitaki Jet Boat Association, to ensure this.
A permanent ramp would be installed before completion of the bridges late next year, at a position to be agreed, as a part of the works.
