Police are investigating the alleged theft of several firearms from a rural property near Palmerston.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said the burglary was reported to police about 3.30pm on Sunday, after a secured shed on the property bordering State Highway 1 was broken into and a number of firearms taken.
Police are at the scene conducting a forensic examination this morning and compiling a list of stolen items, Sgt Woodbridge said.
