Police are seeking witnesses to a single-vehicle crash in Oamaru on Wednesday night.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said police were called at 11.30pm to Reed St, near Ouse St, where this Nissan Pulsar had crashed into a tree.
The driver had left the scene, Sgt Woodbridge said.
There was significant damage to the left side of the vehicle and the impact was sufficient to deploy both front airbags.
There was also damage to another tree, about 20m north, on Reed St.
Police were yesterday making inquiries with the registered owner of the Nissan Pulsar.
