Oamaru's Top Town team is on its way to Christchurch, funded by a radiothon yesterday which is expected to raise the $2000 it needs.
Classic Hits radio station in Oamaru raised $1900 in two hours for the team during the radiothon.
Station manager Gary Watling said some businesses had donated goods and vouchers to the event, which would be auctioned off during the breakfast programme on Monday and Tuesday.
He expected that would raise at least the additional $100 needed to reach the target.
One of the biggest fund-raisers was the station's accounts manager, Elton Crane, who raised $230 for having his head shaved.
