State Highway 1, which was closed for a time between Palmerston and Hampden while a truck was removed after it crashed near Shag Point this morning, has reopened

The truck crashed shortly after 7am and was on its side, blocking one lane, for much of the day.

The New Zealand Transport Agency has advised that the road is now clear, after a closure of about an hour this afternoon to allow for ''vehicle recovery''.

The driver of the truck was taken to Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries.
