Stabbed man released from hospital

The 21-year-old male stabbed at an Oamaru party early on Sunday has been released from Oamaru Hospital.

The man was believed to have been stabbed with a broken beer bottle shortly before 2.20am, sustaining deep cuts and serious lacerations.

Community constable Bruce Dow, of Oamaru, said police had visited the Reed St rental property about midnight, defusing a confrontation between about 30 people in two groups.

The house was often problematic for police, Const Dow said.

A 20-year-old Oamaru man was arrested in Dunedin on Sunday afternoon and charged with wounding with intent to injure, wilful damage and assault, after a female was also allegedly assaulted and two cars were damaged nearby.
