Waitaki district councillors and Waihemo Community Board members gather at the Dunback swing bridge during a council tour of inspection last week.

The swing bridge, built in the early 1900s to give school pupils easier access to school, has been refurbished by the council at a cost of $97,000. The work was completed in January.

Board chairwoman Kathy Dennison, of Palmerston, said a picnic area near the swing bridge could now be considered.
