People using the complex were finding the air temperature cooler than usual, although the pool would stay open while the damaged heating coil and circulation pump were fixed.
Lakes Leisure Ltd aquatics general manager Cam Sheppard said the large copper coil was like a car radiator, but instead of cooling an engine, it recycled heat from the complex to warm the incoming air and raised the ambient air temperature to the optimal 28degC.
District council spokesman Ken Gousmett said designers and contractors were working on a short-term patch while they waited for a replacement pump and coil to be manufactured, delivered and installed.
Ambient air temperature inside the pool area had fallen to between 22degC and 24degC.
However, there had been no complaints and customers would not notice the difference until they climbed out of the water, Lakes Leisure aquatics general manager Cam Sheppard said.
