Pristine conditions on opening day at Cardrona

Cardrona turned on a bluebird day for the opening of its alpine resort, two weeks after originally planned.

Chief mountains officer Laura Hedley said in a statement it was a great first day on the mountain.

‘‘The snowmaking team has worked incredibly hard to get us here and the natural snow mid-week was a welcome boost.

‘‘We’ll continue snowmaking through the cold temperatures ahead and more terrain will open as conditions allow.’’

The learners’ slope and part of the terrain park were open to skiers and snowboarders yesterday and McDougall’s gondola was open for sightseeing.

Treble Cone’s scheduled opening today has been delayed again until conditions allow for skiing and snowboarding. — Allied Media
