Two adults and a young child escaped without serious injuries, when two cars collided head-on on Arthurs Point Rd at 2.45pm yesterday, causing one of the cars to roll about 25m down a bank.

The accident happened between the Edith Cavell Bridge and the Morning Star subdivision.

A 36-year-old Queenstown woman was driving a station wagon towards Arrowtown.

Her vehicle collided with a car being driven towards Queenstown by a 58-year-old local man.

Sergeant Kate Pirovano, of Queenstown, said police were still investigating, trying to get a "full picture" of what made one of the cars slide off the road.

"Slippery, cold roads could be a factor."

St John Queenstown operations team manager Alana Reid said none of those involved suffered serious injuries.

While the man had received a "bump to his head", he did not need hospital treatment.

The woman driver, who did not wish to be named, told the Otago Daily Times her 1-year-old son was unharmed, but was going to hospital for a check-up "just to be on the safe side".
