Fault closes Frankton swimming pool

An unexplained pool-lining pressure fault has forced the temporary closure of the lap swimming pool at Alpine Aqualand in Frankton.

Acting general manager Alex Calwell said the problem was identified yesterday morning and the pool was closed while the manufacturer was consulted.

Staff were working on the fault and had started to drain the lap pool.

A representative from the lap pool liner company was travelling to Queenstown today to assess the situation.

The liner was under a 10-year guarantee.

Other facilities at the aquatic centre were open, with lap training available in the smaller leisure pool, Mr Calwell said.
