Galleries display prints

Limited edition prints by two of the five top New Zealand artists commissioned to celebrate the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa have gone on display in two Queenstown galleries.

Five leading contemporary artists from each of the 32 qualifying nations for the World Cup have participated in creating limited edition prints, which are recognised as official licensed products of the tournament.

Toi o Tahuna Fine Art Gallery presents a selection of the prints, including works by artists from South Africa, Algeria, Australia, Portugal, Germany and the five works by the New Zealand artists.

All Whites 2010, by Auckland artist Sofia Minson, is showing at Toi o Tahuna; and The Universal Game, by Brad Novak, at Kapa Design Gallery. Both are limited to 210 editions and priced at $875. Overseas artists' prints are $1200.

The other New Zealand artists are Michael Armstrong, of Timaru, Barry Ross Smith, of Auckland, and Rua Pick, of Christchurch.

All 840mm by 600mm prints are printed with archival inks with light-fastness of more than 120 years, on Hahnemühle Museum etching 350gsm fine art paper.

Each print is numbered, and signed by the artist, and will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity bearing the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa hologram.
