Michael Hill has done it again, this time winning one of the three supreme awards during the New Zealand Institute of Architects Resene Supreme Awards for Architecture 2008, for the ground-breaking Hills golf course clubhouse near Arrowtown.

The awards, announced at a gala dinner in Auckland on Saturday night, are New Zealand's highest accolades for architecture.

The award comes just a month after Mr Hill and his wife Christine were recognised for the design of their luxury yacht, VvS1, at the World Superyacht Awards for a boat between 30m and 49.9m.

The other supreme award winners were Auckland's Trinity Apartments by Auckland-based Architectus and the Department of Conservation's Conservation House, in Wellington, redeveloped by Wellington-based Architecture+.

The Hills pavilion, designed for Mr Hill by Auckland-based Patterson Associates, was praised by national judging convener Pip Cheshire for its "truly sculptural feel".

The clubhouse design - referred to by Patterson Associates Ltd as "the divot" - was created to integrate seamlessly with the landscape.
