Following Hubber's time of 1 hour, 8min and 50sec was Matt Randall with 1 hour, 9min and 24sec and Adam Wilson in third place with 1 hour, 10min and 27sec.
The women's race was won by Delia Stammers in 1 hour, 31min and 9sec followed by Megan Balchin in 1 hour, 36min and 46sec and Rachel Kennedy in 1 hour, 39min and 55sec.
Organiser Adrian Bailey said despite being ''a few numbers down'' due to the rugby sevens and the Lake Hayes A&P Show, there was plenty of support.
''The great thing is it was a great local event and we could not have asked for a better day.''
The next race - No 3 in a five-part series - is the Paradise Triathlon on Saturday, February 2, which Mr Bailey said would attract ''a few hundred''.
The multiple-lap course is among scenery which features in the movies Narnia and Lord of the Rings and competitors have the opportunity to camp at Paradise the night before.
''To wake up beneath Mt Earnslaw is quite a novelty.''
