Police in Queenstown are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted his partner and a police officer in the CBD early yesterday.
Sergeant Blair Duffy, of Queenstown, said an off-duty officer had just got into his car in the police station car park in Camp St at 2.15am when two men began ''running round and round'' the vehicle.
The officer approached one of the men, who then ''swung and hit the officer to the side of the head''.
The offender, a 24-year-old Queenstown man, ran from the scene.
CCTV footage earlier showed the men ''having a domestic'' in Marine Parade, with one allegedly assaulting the other, a foreign national living in the resort.
The officer was unhurt.
• A Polish national has been arrested for theft after allegedly stealing an empty magnum bottle from a bar at SkyCity Casino in Beach St at 12.15am yesterday.
A ''struggle'' occurred when bar security took the bottle from the 29-year-old Christchurch resident. The man's partner, a 29-year-old Christchurch man, was arrested for obstructing police.
• Three men were arrested at 6pm on Thursday and charged with fraud after altering a Queenstown bar voucher and using it to buy $280 worth of alcohol. The trio, British nationals living in Queenstown, allegedly altered a $40 voucher by photocopying it and changing the details.
• A dog that bit an 11-month-old Queenstown girl on the face last Friday has been returned to its owner after being impounded by the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
The child required surgery after the attack, which occurred at the dog owner's home in Williams St, Sunshine Bay. A council spokeswoman said the dog, a 15-year-old male border collie, was returned to the owner on Thursday. It had been classified as a menacing dog.
