She will take over the job from Kaye Parker, of Queenstown.
Cure Kids is the public face of the New Zealand Child Health Research Foundation, which funds vital research into children's life-threatening illnesses.
Ms Lee has a background in health-care communications, medical education, advertising, marketing and publishing in both Australia and New Zealand.
Cure Kids chairman Roy Austin said the organisation was excited to have attracted someone of Ms Lee's calibre and talent.
"She brings commercial and charity expertise to the role and we believe she is the ideal person to lead Cure Kids into its next phase."
Ms Lee said she was looking forward to the new challenge. She will be based in the Cure Kids Auckland offices.
Ms Parker will continue to work with Cure Kids as an executive director.
