A New Zealand upbringing followed by Manhattan living has given architect David Howell a unique outlook on design and architecture which he will speak about in Queenstown next month.

Mr Howell's seminar is titled ''New York, New York'', in reference to the city he is based in.

He established his first architecture practice in Auckland in 1990, before moving to New York in 1992 and setting up DHD Design.

With more than 25 years' experience, Mr Howell pairs two distinct design philosophies from two hemispheres - the towering history of New York and North America's architectural traditions with the indoor-outdoor living and relaxed environmental design common to New Zealand and Australia.

He has exhibited widely in New York and New Zealand, has received numerous awards and his work has appeared in national and international publications.

The seminar is to be held at the Copthorne Lakefront Hotel on Saturday, March 8, from 5pm to 6.30pm. Tickets are $30, and everybody is welcome.
