Public meeting to hear needs of hospital

The results of a needs assessment of Lakes District Hospital, Frankton, will be presented at a public meeting in Queenstown tonight.

Wakatipu Health Trust spokeswoman Maria Cole said the assessment started in August.

It was the first needs assessment for Lakes District Hospital and was carried out by Fraser Group Consulting, a Dunedin-based firm specialising in the health sector, led by FGC principal Chris Fraser.

He is a former Otago District Health Board regional planning and funding manager.

Mrs Cole said the assessment included a complete stocktake of public health and disability services provided to the resident population of the district.

It also quantified demands on the hospital placed by visitors.

Tonight's meeting, which begins at the Memorial Hall at 7pm, will give members of the public the chance to hear the results of the assessment.
