A Queenstown man has been arrested after allegedly demanding cash from a restaurant owner and "threatening to come back with a knife''.
Sergeant Blair Duffy, of Queenstown police, said the 35-year-old man went to Avanti Restaurant about 2pm yesterday and demanded $80,000 from the owner.
He was later arrested at his home and charged with threatening language.
Arrest after fight
A 20-year-old New Zealand man has been charged with assault after a fight at the Night `n Day in Camp St.
He allegedly spat in the face of a 25-year-old United States man before "wrestling with him on the floor'' about 11.25pm yesterday.
The man was intoxicated, Sgt Duffy said.
"While police dealt with him, he threatened to kill the police along with their families.''
The arrested man did not know the victim.
Warning after theft
A 61-year-old Australian woman has been warned after stealing $40 worth of cosmetics from Wilkinson's Pharmacy about 2.30pm yesterday.
Police located the woman at a motel room, where she paid for the items.
