The organisers of December’s Long Table event in Arrowtown’s Buckingham St have donated a replacement defibrillator for outside the historic Post Office, which is also on the town’s main street.

Donated by the Queenstown Health Trust, the previous unit had been used at least six times and been credited with saving two lives, however it had reached the end of its own life after more than a decade.

You Gather Events co-owner Campbell Ross says "as an organisation that delivers events in Arrowtown we believe this is an important asset for our community".

"We are proud to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors alike."

Jane Peasey, director of Arrowtown’s Lakes District Museum, which owns the Post Office, says the gesture’s an example of Arrowtown’s great community spirit.

"I’d love everyone to take a moment to spot it next time they pass the Post Office.

"Modern defibrillators are easy to use, and simply knowing where it is could make all the difference."
