Plans to extend the hall and smarten up the entrance are on the drawing board at Queenstown Primary School.
The proposed 200sq m wing would "substantially increase the size and functionality of the hall", principal John Western said this week.
The extra space will allow for two multipurpose learning spaces, offices, storage and toilets.
The terraced main entrance on Robins Rd is due for an upgrade to make it more obvious and give clearer directions to the office.
Mr Western said the proposals were submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval and, as long as the school board of trustees was comfortable with the cost, work on the hall and upgrade would be carried out during the Christmas holidays, or beginning of next year.
The school is also rebranding itself with a new logo, after 18 months of consultation with pupils and the community.
The mountain peaks in the logo represent the school's three core values of care, respect and integrity.
The ripples on Lake Wakatipu symbolise the five key competencies in the New Zealand curriculum: thinking; using language, symbols and texts; managing self; relating to others; and participating and contributing. The colours on the ring represent the four houses of the school: Rata, Kawarau, Kahu and Tahuna.
