Air New Zealand flights between Australia and Queenstown are now more certain to land in adverse weather conditions with Required Navigational Performance (RNP) technology installed on all of its Airbus fleet.
The airline is the first Airbus operator in the world to have an entire Airbus fleet enabled with RNP, which allows specially trained pilots to fly to lower altitudes with a more precise and efficient route into the airport.
It saves fuel, reduces emissions, and lessens the impact of bad weather on services.
Since RNP was installed in six of its Boeing 737 aircraft last year, more than 138 services into and out of Queenstown have been able to land in bad weather thanks to the technology.
Queenstown is the only New Zealand airport at which RNP is used.
