Children at yesterday's Teddy Bears Picnic were treated to face-painting, magic shows, entertainer Sunny Sky, a petting zoo, bouncy castle with not a cloud in the sky.

Rupert, a 47-year-old bear, was easily the oldest.

Rupert's owner, Victor Sutherland-Hibbs (3), of Kingston, took ownership of the bear from his father, Duane.

Mr Hibbs received the bear at the age of 1 - he will be 48 in April - and it was handed on to Victor when he turned 1.

A proud Stags supporter, Rupert wears a Stags No 1 on his woollen vest.
